Dawdon Colliery, Noses Point,
£45.00Price
Shafts completed in 1907. Dawdon was one of the most successful mines in the area.
Industrial waste was tipped onto the beach, blackening the area, giving the names Blast and Chemical Beaches. In 1960 the traditional winding wheel was replaced with an electrical system. Locals remember the swimming pool. The mine closed in 1991. The area is now Spectrum Business Park.
