Vane Tempest Colliery, Seaham.

The Colliery was named after the wife of Lord Londonderry, the wealthy landowner who built Seaham Harbour. It was opened with the first coal in 1926, employing 1,313 people in 1935.

This mine with all others, was nationalised in 1946 and finally closed in 1993. In 2003 building began to create East Shore Village on the site.
